Just Because….

So my previous post started me to thinking about another one of my favorite quotes. [ Now, I can’t say if this is an accurate account of history and she really did say this BUT] nonetheless this is one of my favorite lines from the movie “Mommie Dearest” [Joan Crawford was played by actress Faye Dunaway]. In this scene Crawford addresses the board members of Pepsi Cola who suggest she has no place there. Her words sharp, emotionless and powerful. By far one of the greatest scenes of the movie. [Jay-Z samples this bit of the film in his song “Blue”]

Wise Words On a Rainy Wednesday

They say; “April showers bring May flowers.” Well as it turns out on this second day of April, here in St. Louis it is quite a rainy day. As a matter of fact, as I sit here in my windowless office I can hear the rain [and hail] pouncing off the windows and the roof. I zoned out for a minute and for some reason Joan Crawford’s voice crept into my thoughts.

“Send me flowers while I`m alive. They won`t do me a damn bit of good after I`m dead.” Joan Crawford closeup 1932

Always a fan of the ever so poised, potty mouth diva I am not sure why this quote in particular stood out. The upper echelon of Hollywood Glam,  I guess it’s just one of those things, wise words on a rainy day.
