The Roaring Twenties….

On May 11th, 1985 at 8:19pm a legend was born…ME! Yes it is true I celebrated my 29th birthday yesterday [I also celebrated being a mother yesterday as well, double the fun]. The past couple of months leading up to my birthday I was hesitant about entering the last year of my twenties [insert violin cord here]. I’m not really sure what scares me about being [almost] thirty. After doing a little bit of soul searching I have decided that I am scared to turn thirty because when I was twenty I had this long laundry list of things that I wanted to do and accomplish before I hit the dirty thirty. Here I am twenty-five [ okay, okay I’m twenty-nine] and have yet to cross everything off the list. Now granted, some of the items on the list are a little far fetched; “find Prince Charming”, “Marry Prince Charming”, “Visit Fiji” among other things. Now while those are a few of the bucket list items I have yet to accomplish, there are quite a few more that I have accomplished, “Start a business”, “Return to school”, “Take my son on his first plane ride” and “Visit Harlem, New York”. So here I am, a little less than 24 hours into the last year of my twenties and wondering what’s next, what item is next to cross off the list. But just like always, my mind starting wondering and a quote popped into my head.

“Enjoy yourself. That’s what your 20s are for. Your 30s are to learn the lessons. Your 40s are to pay for the drinks.” – Carrie Bradshaw

Enjoy yourself, that’s what your twenties are for! Don’t mind if I do. 364 days left….
